This August, our group set sail aboard the Celebrity Edge, ready for crisp air, adventure, good laughs, and the kind of memories that turn into stories we’ll be telling for years.
From the moment we stepped onboard, the Celebrity Edge team made us feel like VIPs. The ship itself is stunning—sleek design, warm spaces, airy lounges, and that iconic Magic Carpet gliding along the side of the ship. But what truly elevated the experience was the crew. Every interaction felt sincere, every detail thoughtful, and every moment a reminder of why Celebrity’s service is so celebrated.
Our adventures ashore were equally unforgettable. One of the earliest highlights came in Skagway, where we boarded the historic White Pass & Yukon Route Railway. Dressed in our matching buffalo-check flannels—yes, we absolutely committed to the look—we climbed into vintage railcars and watched the scenery unfold like a living painting. Waterfalls, sheer cliffs, snowy peaks… it was impossible not to be in awe. And of course, impossible not to crack up as we posed for every photo imaginable.
Juneau delivered its own brand of fun at the famous Red Dog Saloon. Pushing through the old western swinging doors felt like stepping into a rowdy frontier movie. Sawdust floors, live music, bartenders with personality to spare—and yes, we dove right into Alaska’s iconic Duck Farts. One round led to another, until the entire bar seemed to know who we were and what matching shirts we were wearing.
And because we’re an adventurous crew, we couldn’t resist white-water rafting with glaciers towering in the distance. There’s nothing like bouncing through icy rapids surrounded by jaw-dropping scenery to remind you how exhilarating life can be.
Back onboard the Celebrity Edge, our evenings became some of the most memorable moments of the trip. One night, we gathered for a curated wine tasting, savoring bold reds, crisp whites, and stories behind each bottle. Another evening, we celebrated a birthday, and the crew went above and beyond—songs, smiles, surprises, and that unmistakable feeling of being truly cared for.
But nothing compared to the moments spent on our balconies, wrapped in cozy blankets and watching the breathtaking Mendenhall Glacier glide past like a massive, shimmering sculpture carved in blue. It’s impossible to put into words the quiet, stunning awe of it.
And then came the finale—the moment that sealed this voyage as legendary. On our last night, just before midnight, Captain Matt came over the speakers with an announcement that jolted everyone awake: the Northern Lights were out. Within minutes, our group was bundled up on deck, huddled together as the sky erupted in waves of green, pink, and violet. It felt like Alaska itself was saying goodbye in the most spectacular way possible.
Travel has a way of bonding people, but this trip? This trip was next-level. Between the adventures, the laughter, the impeccable service from the Celebrity Edge crew, the toasts, the celebrations, and those once-in-a-lifetime sky-lit moments, our Alaska sailing became a chapter of our lives we’ll never forget.
