Toulon | Saturday, May 25, 2024 | Saturday, May 25, 2024 |
Built around a sheltered bay with Mount Faron as an impressive backdrop, Toulon is an important naval port and a city of industry. Its large harbor serves as the base for the French navy's Mediterranean fleet and as home to a sizeable marina, with yachts and pleasure boats adding bright splashes of color. A maze of pedestrian streets constitutes the heart of old Toulon. Shops and colorful stalls make it an attractive area to explore. Avenue de la République runs parallel to the waterfront. At the western edge of the quay, the Naval Museum is visiting by those with an interest in Toulon’s maritime history. Most visitors come here to explore the hinterland and other parts of the Riviera.
Barcelona | Sunday, May 26, 2024 | Sunday, May 26, 2024 |
Barcelona, the self-confident and progressive capital of Spain, is a tremendous place to be. Though it boasts outstanding Gothic and Art Nouveau buildings, and some great museums – most notably those dedicated to Picasso and Catalan art – it is above all a place where there's enjoyment simply in walking the streets, stopping in at bars and cafés, drinking in the atmosphere. A thriving port and the most prosperous commercial centre in Spain, it has a sophistication and cultural dynamism way ahead of the rest of the country. In part this reflects the city's proximity to France, whose influence is apparent in the elegant boulevards and imaginative cooking. But Barcelona has also evolved an individual and eclectic cultural identity, most perfectly and eccentrically expressed in the architecture of Antoni GaudÃ. Scattered as Barcelona's main sights may be, the greatest concentration of interest is around the old town (La Ciutat Vella). These cramped streets above the harbor are easily manageable, and far more enjoyable, on foot. Start, as everyone else does, with the Ramblas.
Cartagena (Spain) | Monday, May 27, 2024 | Monday, May 27, 2024 |
Today Spain's major commercial port and naval base, Cartagena lies on the coast of Murcia, its great indented bay guarded by rocky promontories, each topped by a fort. The city contains the remains of old walls, a castle constructed probably in Carthaginian times, and a church that was formerly a 13th-century cathedral. Attractive promenades extend along the harbour, while to the northeast is the famous beach and watersports resort area of the lagoon-like Mar Menor.
Gibraltar | Tuesday, May 28, 2024 | Tuesday, May 28, 2024 |
Gibraltar is the famous promontory located at the western entrance of the Mediterranean, with Spain to the north and, across the Straits, Morocco to the south. The Straits are a channel connecting the Atlantic with the Mediterranean. Africa is clearly visible on a fine day. In ancient times, the Rock, as Gibraltar is popularly called, and its counterpart on the African side, Mount Abyla, were known as the Pillars of Hercules. Visitors enjoy historical sites, magnificent views and beautiful beaches. A favorite pastime is strolling along Main Street to browse and shop in the duty-free shops or stop in one of the pubs. Many visitors come to see Gibraltar's curiosity, the Barbary Apes. According to legend, the British will remain as long as the apes survive. Alemeda Botanical Gardens is where the British troops mustered for their parades. Trafalgar Cemetery was named for the casualties of the Battle of Trafalgar. On the fringe of the downtown area is the Cable Car Base Station where the car runs to the rock top.

Funchal (Madeira), Portugal | Thursday, May 30, 2024 | Thursday, May 30, 2024 |
Madeira has been described as "Island of Eternal Spring". It is renowned for its wine, which many feel ranks among the world’s best. Funchal has a wide selection of resort hotels where watersports, golf and tennis are popular. Visitors can tour the 15th-century cathedral, orchid gardens of Quinta das Cruzes, and buildings associated with Christopher Columbus. Madeira’s discoverer, Zarco, is believed to have lived in the house Quinta das Cruzes. Now it displays furniture and paintings and is surrounded by fabulous gardens. The stunning 15th-century design of Sé Cathedral features white stucco with contrasting black basalt and red tufa rock; the ceiling is inlaid with ivory. Located near Town Hall, the Museum of Sacred Art contains art from several islands, including a group of 15th- and 16th-century paintings of Portuguese and Flemish schools. Visit colorful Mercado dos Lavradores during the morning to see flower vendors and fish and produce stands.

Nassau | Friday, Jun 07, 2024 | Friday, Jun 07, 2024 |
You'll recall sunning and strolling on a seemingly endless white sand beach. Or relaxing in the shade of coconut palms. You'll remember the crystal-clear water and the multicolored tropical fish. And you'll certainly recollect the graceful gestures of the uniformed "bobbies" directing traffic in the bustling downtown. Nassau will delight you in many ways. With its colorful Colonial architecture. With the warmth of its people. And with the infectious music of steel drums. It's very likely you'll leave this happy place with lots of duty-free gifts and mementos and at least one straw hat.

At the time of booking, expectant mothers are required to supply a medical certificate establishing their fitness for travel at the time they are due to travel. Silversea is unable to accommodate women who have entered their twenty-fourth (24th) week of pregnancy during their voyage, and will not be responsible or liable for any complication relative to any pregnancy during the entire duration of the cruise or thereafter. Additionally, airlines may have restrictions that may differ from Silversea’s. Please contact your travel professional or airline.

Smoking is NOT allowed in:
- Guest suites and guest suite verandas
- All Public Areas, Lounges and Bars
Smoking (including Cigars, Pipes and Cigarettes) is allowed in:
- The Connoisseur's Corner.

Silversea reserves the right, without liability, to require a guest to disembark and/or to refuse to board and transport a guest who, in the judgment of Silversea or the ship's Master, is unfit to travel or may require care beyond that which Silversea is reasonably able to provide. Cons: Evening entertainment was just about non-existent - could add some more choices here

Review: As an avid Expedition, Nature, and Safari lover, I was not sure what to expect on Silversea Expedition, but I did very much enjoy it. On this itinerary we did not have the full Expedition experience, no zodiac landings or kayaking from the ship, but this was because the countries we were in did not allow it, but instead we had a selection of locally guided tours in each port, and the Naturalists from the ship came along on each departure. On my trip, there were a number of Silversea repeat guests, and some more Expedition travelers, and both seemed to enjoy themselves. For me, the lectures, and watching for wildlife with the Naturalists were the best feature, but sailing on a luxury all suite vessel with a balcony and a butler was certainly enjoyable as well! Silversea puts it together well and included both a pre and a post night hotel.
Everything was perfect except

Cons: No Tv live shows. No cnn msnbc fox cbs etc
Review: Only old tv shows. National Geographic. Movies Nothing live from any country.
Small ship, small number of guests, great staff
Pros: Small ship, small number of guests, great staff
Cons: Slightly dated design, rough seas, tenders to ports were a negative
Review: An excellent trip overall with a great staff and even better food. We loved the small ship atmosphere and the very quiet spaces. The ship never felt crowded and we loved the number and variety of public rooms. The tenders into ports was a bit of a turn off as I found the tenders to be crowded, hot and stuffy and not a great overall experience. The shore excursions were also a hit or miss. I don't enjoy riding in small vans with multiple people, et al. One of our shore excursions was cancelled and we were not notified until we were onboard the ship. The quality of food was excellent - a huge variety and they willingness of the staff to meet any need was very nice. Excellent wine list if you didn't like the included wines and i thought the pricing for some of the rare/high-end thing was very fair, if not inexpensive. The different restaurants and changing menu's were also a nice surprise. I don't think I ate the same thing twice in 10 days, except the large salads I made for lunch! The ship is being updated soon we're told and it is in need of a refresh. Everything was very clean but had the slight feel of a the early 90's to me. Our room was comfortable and had tons of storage space. The butler that attended to us was beyond accommodating and very helpful. The entertainment on board was very good and varied from lectures to broadway style reviews. We enjoyed the energy of the young performers. Overall it was an excellent trip and would do it again.
Great service, food and amenities. Plenty of things to do, and plenty of places to relax. Amazing horseback trail ride and beach swim in Antigua.
Pros: Great service, food and amenities. Plenty of things to do, and plenty of places to relax. Amazing horseback trail ride and beach swim in Antigua.
Cons: Our Silver Suite was roomy, but tired. Needed updating.
Review: This was a great cruise for us since we live in FL and did not have to fly to the port city. We enjoy the days at sea, and this cruise included 4 . Lovely decorations throughout the ship for the holiday. The Boutique staff were friendly and funny, and the selection was great. Our Butler and all the service staff made us feel right at home.
Excellent staff, food, & Lectures by Nicki.
Pros: Excellent staff, food, & Lectures by Nicki.
Cons: We couldn’t visit 2 ports I was looking forward to due to weather: Isles des Madelines & Boston Harbor.
Review: Would take the same cruise again, perhaps a bit earlier in the season to prevent such severe weather, esp. ocean waves. No person to blame. A “Bomb Cyclone” in Boston is surely an unpredictable weather oddity. NYC was sunny & beautiful the following two days. History/Geography Lectures were outstanding!
Small ship, attentive staff, excellent food and entertainment

Pros: Pros fantastic service, especially by the butlers.: The size of the ship, the dining options and Cons: The television satellite went
Cons: Cons: The television satellite went out for 4 days and there was some grumbling .
Review: Perfect weather and interesting ports added up to a wonderful trip. The staff was great and the food in all of the dining options was quite good. The chef did several cooking trips and demonstrations and everyone loved them. The demonstrations were standing room only. He shopped locally and people appreciated the high quality of the fruits especially.
very attentive staff and good food
Pros: very attentive staff and good food

Review: We took a late March 10-day trip in the Caribbean including the week before Easter (spring break for many schools). We had a great diversity of fellow passengers and the interactions between the passengers was far better than we have ever experienced before. Perhaps the good staff attitude helped set the tone. In any event, we seemed to be always chatting with new friends, whether on our small-group shore excursions, or at coctails, or at meals.
Every suite has a butler who can attend to your every need. Every one is very service oriented.
Pros: Every suite has a butler who can attend to your every need. Every one is very service oriented.
Cons: The deep soaker tub can be difficult for some guests to climb in and out of for their shower.
Review:
the service, the food, the pool deck
Pros: the service, the food, the pool deck
Cons: ship was a bit worn
Review: Our butler was attentive, courteous, and prompt. I wish I could have taken him home. The entire staff on this ship was outstanding. They seemed to know what you wanted before you did. Food was excellent in the dining room and La Terrazza. We felt the service in La Champagne was not up to the standards of the rest of the ship. The evening entertainment was limited, but that may be due to the small size of this ship. The SilverWind was a bit tired and needed some refurbishing. However, that in no way detracted from our experience on board. We are looking forward to our next SilverSeas experience in 3 months.
food and service
Pros: food and service
Cons: needs to be updated more.

Review: Love the inclusive features (drinks, shore excursions, gratuities) that are offered on a luxury ship! Staff could not do enough for you. Entertainment was fun, professional, loved it!
No lines, no queues. Embarking and disembarking was really easy and pleasant. Wifi connectivity was excellent.
Pros: No lines, no queues. Embarking and disembarking was really easy and pleasant. Wifi connectivity was excellent.
Cons: Some public areas were looking a bit tired. One Launderette with only 3 machines for the entire ship was often crowded and some guests got frustrated.

Review: Trip of a lifetime--I loved it!
We have the best travel planner! She leaves nothing to chance, anticipating our personal needs and expectations as she plans trips for us at least annually. This trip ended in our 45th day as Silversea travelers - so we have both experience and loyalty with/to them. Bar and butler service the best! Accommodations comfortable and roomy. Dining options flexible for a small ship.

Cons: The ship takes some liberties in moving pre-booked reservations/appointments for La Terrazza and the spa. My ship evaluation clearly communicated our disappointment in this situation. Food is predictable and one must not be timid about asking for better wines than those automatically poured. Difficult to figure out how to operate laundry appliances - need at least some instruction.

Excellent service and food and wine
