Trieste | Friday, Sep 13, 2024 | Friday, Sep 13, 2024 |
Trieste is an interesting city and a flourishing center of trade and commerce. It was a literary and cultural center in the 20th century, and the town has Viennese influence and style - along with grand squares, palazzi and churches. The main square, Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia, has Viennese cafes, Palazzo del Governo, and Palazzo del Comune with its clock tower. All of these buildings were built in the 19th century. The promenade is a worth a stroll. Upper town, Colle di San Giusto - with its terrific views - has beautiful Castello di San Giusto and its musuem at the top of the hill, Piazza Cattedrale. Basilica di San Giusto is two churches in several styles, including Roman and Byzantine, with frescoes depicting San Giusto (the town's patron saint), mosaics, and the lovely rose window. The civic museum here has art, religious items and historical items inside. Orto Lapidario displays pottery and statues. Visit Civico Museo Revoltella. Stop at Castello di Miramare and her gardens. Villa Opicina has a wonderful belvedere and views, and Grotta Gigante is an amazing walkable cave museum.
Zadar | Saturday, Sep 14, 2024 | Saturday, Sep 14, 2024 |
Zadar's many promenadors on the shore have a feeling they are on board the starboards of which are being laved by the waves carried by the warm zephyrus. Zadar is a town on the seaside. It is floating on the reef and closing from times a gap between itself and land, a harbor which was a pulse of its history. All the maritime and land ways led to this harbour and on their crossings the ancient marketplace was made, which became the origin of the Town, the very springwell of its life.
Split | Sunday, Sep 15, 2024 | Sunday, Sep 15, 2024 |
Split, the largest Croatian city on the Adriatic coast, is the heart of Dalmatia. The old town is built around the harbor on the south side of a high peninsula sheltered from the open sea by many islands. Split achieved fame when the Roman emperor Diocletian (245-313), noted for his persecution of early Christians, had his retirement palace built here from 295 to 305. Since 1945 Split has grown into a major industrial city with large apartment-block housing areas. Much of old Split remains, however, and this combined with its exuberant nature makes it one of the most fascinating cities in Europe.
Dubrovnik | Monday, Sep 16, 2024 | Monday, Sep 16, 2024 |
Classed as a world heritage treasure by UNESCO, Dubrovnik is a place of ancient streets lined with stone palaces, Venetian-style buildings and bell towers. The city is enclosed by stone walls, and the highlight is a leisurely walk atop these massive walls for a great view of the city and the sea. Entering Dubrovnik, you are greeted by an impressive pedestrian promenade, the Placa, which extends before you all the way to the clock tower at the other end of town. The Orlando Tower here is a favorite meeting place. Just inside the city walls near the Pile Gate is the Franciscan Monastery housing the third-oldest functioning pharmacy in Europe, operating since 1391. For a fantastic panorama of the city, take a cable car ride to the summit of the 1,340-foot Mount Srdj.
Bari | Tuesday, Sep 17, 2024 | Tuesday, Sep 17, 2024 |
Bari (ancient Barium) is an industrial city in the Apulia region of southern Italy and a seaport on the Adriatic Sea. The old quarter of the city sits on a promontory separating the old and new harbors. It is the site of two notable Romanesque churches: the Basilica of San Nicola (11th-12th century) and the cathedral (late 12th century). Bari was formerly a Greek colony and later a Roman trading settlement. It came under the domination of the Lombards, the Byzantines, and the Normans. It was a key Italian naval base during World War II and sustained heavy damage. From here it is easy to visit Alberobello and Egnazia.
Kotor | Wednesday, Sep 18, 2024 | Wednesday, Sep 18, 2024 |
Take a step back in time and visit the old town of Kotor, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in this part of the Mediterranean. The asymmetric structure of the narrow streets and squares, combined with the awesome monuments of medieval architecture, contributed to Kotor being placed on UNESCO’s “World’s natural and cultural inheritance†list. From ancient fortification systems surrounding the city to 12th century cathedrals, Kotor is a dream come true for those who revel in history. Entrance to town from the Gurdic spring, consists of 3 separate gates, built from the 13th, 16th and 18th centuries. The Cathedral of St. Tryphon is one of the most visited and impressive churches in the city. According to some texts, the original church was erected in the 8th century and rebuilt in 1166. Two earthquakes, one in 1667 and one in 1979 seriously damaged the cathedral and it continues to be restored to this day. The city is breathtaking in every respect and only a visit will truly reveal all it has to offer.

Athens (Piraeus) | Monday, Sep 23, 2024 | Monday, Sep 23, 2024 |
Piraeus is the seaport for Athens, the capital of western civilization, which boasts a fantastic mix of classical ruins and vivacious modern life. Climb the hill of Acropolis to wonder at the Parthenon, join the lively Athenians in Constitution Square, and find a welcoming taverna for spirited bizouki music, plenty of ouzo to drink, and energetic Greek dancing. Piraeus is the largest harbor in the country. The white chapel of St. George at its summit has a theater bearing the same name. The hill of Nymphs is the site of a planetarium, which is located above magnificent Thesseio temple. Among all of these hills, Acropolis is the one that glorified Athens and the whole Greek world and became the symbol of the western civilization. Bays and small rocky or sandy coves dot the area and during the summer are filled with Athenians and foreigners enjoying their beauty. |

Each Silversea ship is equipped with a Medical Centre, which is customarily staffed by a doctor and nurse on 24-hour call when at sea. When docked, supplementary emergency care may also be obtained through local medical facilities.
At the time of booking, expectant mothers are required to supply a medical certificate establishing their fitness for travel at the time they are due to travel. Silversea is unable to accommodate women who have entered their twenty-fourth (24th) week of pregnancy during their voyage, and will not be responsible or liable for any complication relative to any pregnancy during the entire duration of the cruise or thereafter. Additionally, airlines may have restrictions that may differ from Silversea’s. Please contact your travel professional or airline.
In consideration of evolving consumer trends, and to further promote a safe, comfortable and enjoyable environment for all Silversea guests, staff and crew, the smoking policy was updated on January 1, 2013.
Smoking is NOT allowed in:
- Guest suites and guest suite verandas
- All Public Areas, Lounges and Bars
Smoking (including Cigars, Pipes and Cigarettes) is allowed in:
- The Connoisseur's Corner.
- In addition, tables and seating have been made exclusively available outside the Panorama Lounge, the Pool Bar, and specified areas of open decks.
- Tables and seating have been made available outside La Terrazza for cigarette smoking exclusively.
Guests who rely upon wheelchairs must bring their own. Please note that not all shore excursions are suitable for guests with impaired mobility.
All guests are required to report in writing to Silversea at the time their reservation is made:

By booking passage and by boarding the ship, the guest represents and warrants that they are physically and otherwise fit to travel, and that the guest will comply at all times with applicable rules and regulations of the ship and orders and instructions of the ship's officers and medical staff. Silversea reserves the right, without liability, to require a guest to disembark and/or to refuse to board and transport a guest who, in the judgment of Silversea or the ship's Master, is unfit to travel or may require care beyond that which Silversea is reasonably able to provide. Guests can use their own laptop to surf the Internet and check emails at Wi-Fi locations throughout the ship, or from the comfort and privacy of their suite. Computers, email and Internet access are also available on board at the Internet Café. However, it is important to understand that telecommunication services while at sea are via satellite and significantly different than high-speed connections on land back home. The signal travels in a similar manner to radio waves but at much greater distances. Therefore, onboard Internet access is not guaranteed at all times. Satellite communications are also affected by weather and the ship's location.

Pros: Food was some of the best I've ever had at sea, lectures from expedition guides were excellent quality and service from all the staff onboard was so professional but also from the heart
Cons: Evening entertainment was just about non-existent - could add some more choices here
Review:
Comfortable luxury ship, great dining and a happy staff providing good service.
Pros: Comfortable luxury ship, great dining and a happy staff providing good service.

Review: As an avid Expedition, Nature, and Safari lover, I was not sure what to expect on Silversea Expedition, but I did very much enjoy it. On this itinerary we did not have the full Expedition experience, no zodiac landings or kayaking from the ship, but this was because the countries we were in did not allow it, but instead we had a selection of locally guided tours in each port, and the Naturalists from the ship came along on each departure. On my trip, there were a number of Silversea repeat guests, and some more Expedition travelers, and both seemed to enjoy themselves. For me, the lectures, and watching for wildlife with the Naturalists were the best feature, but sailing on a luxury all suite vessel with a balcony and a butler was certainly enjoyable as well! Silversea puts it together well and included both a pre and a post night hotel.
Everything was perfect except
Pros: Everything was perfect except
Cons: No Tv live shows. No cnn msnbc fox cbs etc
Review: Only old tv shows. National Geographic. Movies Nothing live from any country.
Small ship, small number of guests, great staff
Pros: Small ship, small number of guests, great staff
Cons: Slightly dated design, rough seas, tenders to ports were a negative
Review: An excellent trip overall with a great staff and even better food. We loved the small ship atmosphere and the very quiet spaces. The ship never felt crowded and we loved the number and variety of public rooms. The tenders into ports was a bit of a turn off as I found the tenders to be crowded, hot and stuffy and not a great overall experience. The shore excursions were also a hit or miss. I don't enjoy riding in small vans with multiple people, et al. One of our shore excursions was cancelled and we were not notified until we were onboard the ship. The quality of food was excellent - a huge variety and they willingness of the staff to meet any need was very nice. Excellent wine list if you didn't like the included wines and i thought the pricing for some of the rare/high-end thing was very fair, if not inexpensive. The different restaurants and changing menu's were also a nice surprise. I don't think I ate the same thing twice in 10 days, except the large salads I made for lunch! The ship is being updated soon we're told and it is in need of a refresh. Everything was very clean but had the slight feel of a the early 90's to me. Our room was comfortable and had tons of storage space. The butler that attended to us was beyond accommodating and very helpful. The entertainment on board was very good and varied from lectures to broadway style reviews. We enjoyed the energy of the young performers. Overall it was an excellent trip and would do it again.
Great service, food and amenities. Plenty of things to do, and plenty of places to relax. Amazing horseback trail ride and beach swim in Antigua.
Pros: Great service, food and amenities. Plenty of things to do, and plenty of places to relax. Amazing horseback trail ride and beach swim in Antigua.
Cons: Our Silver Suite was roomy, but tired. Needed updating.
Review: This was a great cruise for us since we live in FL and did not have to fly to the port city. We enjoy the days at sea, and this cruise included 4 . Lovely decorations throughout the ship for the holiday. The Boutique staff were friendly and funny, and the selection was great. Our Butler and all the service staff made us feel right at home.
Excellent staff, food, & Lectures by Nicki.
Pros: Excellent staff, food, & Lectures by Nicki.
Cons: We couldn’t visit 2 ports I was looking forward to due to weather: Isles des Madelines & Boston Harbor.
Review: Would take the same cruise again, perhaps a bit earlier in the season to prevent such severe weather, esp. ocean waves. No person to blame. A “Bomb Cyclone” in Boston is surely an unpredictable weather oddity. NYC was sunny & beautiful the following two days. History/Geography Lectures were outstanding!
Small ship, attentive staff, excellent food and entertainment
Pros: Small ship, attentive staff, excellent food and entertainment
Cons: No coffee bar, cabins need refurbishing, no ice cream bar, specialty restaurant charged additional $60 pp.

Pros: Pros fantastic service, especially by the butlers.: The size of the ship, the dining options and Cons: The television satellite went
Cons: Cons: The television satellite went out for 4 days and there was some grumbling .
Review: Perfect weather and interesting ports added up to a wonderful trip. The staff was great and the food in all of the dining options was quite good. The chef did several cooking trips and demonstrations and everyone loved them. The demonstrations were standing room only. He shopped locally and people appreciated the high quality of the fruits especially.
very attentive staff and good food
Pros: very attentive staff and good food
Cons: No Cons
Review: We took a late March 10-day trip in the Caribbean including the week before Easter (spring break for many schools). We had a great diversity of fellow passengers and the interactions between the passengers was far better than we have ever experienced before. Perhaps the good staff attitude helped set the tone. In any event, we seemed to be always chatting with new friends, whether on our small-group shore excursions, or at coctails, or at meals.
Every suite has a butler who can attend to your every need. Every one is very service oriented.
Pros: Every suite has a butler who can attend to your every need. Every one is very service oriented.
Cons: The deep soaker tub can be difficult for some guests to climb in and out of for their shower.
Review:
the service, the food, the pool deck
Pros: the service, the food, the pool deck
Cons: ship was a bit worn
Review: Our butler was attentive, courteous, and prompt. I wish I could have taken him home. The entire staff on this ship was outstanding. They seemed to know what you wanted before you did. Food was excellent in the dining room and La Terrazza. We felt the service in La Champagne was not up to the standards of the rest of the ship. The evening entertainment was limited, but that may be due to the small size of this ship. The SilverWind was a bit tired and needed some refurbishing. However, that in no way detracted from our experience on board. We are looking forward to our next SilverSeas experience in 3 months.
food and service
Pros: food and service
Cons: needs to be updated more.

Pros: The staff is wonderful!
Cons: The ship could use some refurbishing
Review: Love the inclusive features (drinks, shore excursions, gratuities) that are offered on a luxury ship! Staff could not do enough for you. Entertainment was fun, professional, loved it!
No lines, no queues. Embarking and disembarking was really easy and pleasant. Wifi connectivity was excellent.
Pros: No lines, no queues. Embarking and disembarking was really easy and pleasant. Wifi connectivity was excellent.
Cons: Some public areas were looking a bit tired. One Launderette with only 3 machines for the entire ship was often crowded and some guests got frustrated.

Review: Trip of a lifetime--I loved it!
We have the best travel planner! She leaves nothing to chance, anticipating our personal needs and expectations as she plans trips for us at least annually. This trip ended in our 45th day as Silversea travelers - so we have both experience and loyalty with/to them. Bar and butler service the best! Accommodations comfortable and roomy. Dining options flexible for a small ship.

Cons: The ship takes some liberties in moving pre-booked reservations/appointments for La Terrazza and the spa. My ship evaluation clearly communicated our disappointment in this situation. Food is predictable and one must not be timid about asking for better wines than those automatically poured. Difficult to figure out how to operate laundry appliances - need at least some instruction.
Review:
Excellent service and food and wine
Pros: Excellent service and food and wine
