Los Angeles | Friday, Apr 12, 2024 | Friday, Apr 12, 2024 |
Much of Los Angeles lies in a fairly flat basin, surrounded by mountains and ocean. Although the Santa Monica Mountains, one of the most unheralded of the city’s remaining natural treasures, splits LA between the familiar sights of La-La Land to the south and the charmless suburbs to the north, the metropolis is easily traversed. Places for visitors to explore include Hollywood, Mid-Wilshire, the central strip of Wilshire Boulevard with faded Art Deco "Miracle Mile" zone and good museums, and the beach towns of Santa Monica and Venice, where visitors can stroll along the former’s remodeled pier and Third Street Promenade outdoor mall, or visit the latter’s famed Muscle Beach and oceanside Boardwalk. Lengthier trips to LA may include the old-fashioned charm of Old Pasadena, home of ever-popular Rose Parade and Bowl, Downtown, site of much city heritage and setting for what skyscrapers the area does have, the South Bay, the place to find the region’s second biggest city of Long Beach, and Malibu, where visitors can try to get a glimpse of movie stars and assorted celebrities.

Astoria | Tuesday, Apr 16, 2024 | Tuesday, Apr 16, 2024 |
Astoria is a city of 10,000 people on the Columbia River, just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. It is surrounded by the beauty of the forest, mountains, 3 rivers and the sea. Astoria is part of a nationally significant historic region at the western end of the Lewis & Clark Trail. Astoria is the oldest American settlement west of the Rockies; a place that takes visitors back to simpler times, its architecture dominated by hundreds of Victorian homes clinging to steep wooded hillsides and with a revitalized 1920s era downtown; all set against a backdrop of tremendous natural beauty. Unspoiled and generally uncrowded, Astoria is near several first-class interpretive attractions including Fort Clatsop, the Columbia River Maritime Museum, the Flavel House, Fort Stevens State Park, the Astoria Riverfront Trolley and the Astoria Column. Because of its steep hills and beautiful Victorian homes, Astoria has been called the "Little San Francisco of the Pacific Northwest."
Victoria, B.C. | Wednesday, Apr 17, 2024 | Wednesday, Apr 17, 2024 |
British culture and island informality collide in Victoria. This sophisticated seaside city is full of historic sites, parks and gardens. Take a walking tour - many of which begin at Parliament Buildings at Victoria's Inner Harbor. Combined with majestic Empress Hotel, these monumental buildings give the city a regal European feel. See equally impressive modern structures, such as Royal British Columbia History Museum, or replicas of large, native Northwest Indian houses at Thunderbird Park. Unique attractions include Undersea Gardens, Miniature World, Maritime Museum, Chinatown and Royal London Wax Museum. A memorable places to visit is world-famous Butchart Gardens, with 5,000 fauna varieties. The dazzling gardens on Saanich Inlet are beautiful at night, when hundreds of lights sparkle along winding paths. Additional gardens in Victoria include Crystal Garden and the gardens surrounding Government House and near Craigdarroch Castle, a towering Victorian mansion complete with a tower and turrets. Tour this city in a horse-drawn carriage.
Vancouver | Thursday, Apr 18, 2024 | Thursday, Apr 18, 2024 |
Vancouver is a thriving metropolis surrounded by natural beauty. With parks, beaches, gardens, museums, art galleries and the second-largest Chinatown in North America, Vancouver lives up to its promise of offering something for everyone. With modern buildings set against green, rolling hillsides, this city is breathtaking; no location offers a more spectacular view than Stanley Park - with a zoo, aquarium, totem poles and honking geese. A short walk from the park leads to Robson Street, which offers the town's best window-shopping. Stores with European flavor share the avenue with delicatessens and tea rooms ready to serve. As architectural heart of the city, Robson Square features a central plaza with a food fair and an old provincial courthouse, which now houses Vancouver Art Gallery. Be sure to stop at 8 Pender St. - "the narrowest building in the world." Other points of interest include the Museum of Anthropology; Japanese-style Nitobe Memorial Garden; and VanDusen Botanical Garden. Capilano Canyon is site of the world's longest and highest suspension footbridge. |

Each Silversea ship is equipped with a Medical Centre, which is customarily staffed by a doctor and nurse on 24-hour call when at sea. When docked, supplementary emergency care may also be obtained through local medical facilities.
At the time of booking, expectant mothers are required to supply a medical certificate establishing their fitness for travel at the time they are due to travel. Silversea is unable to accommodate women who have entered their twenty-fourth (24th) week of pregnancy during their voyage, and will not be responsible or liable for any complication relative to any pregnancy during the entire duration of the cruise or thereafter. Additionally, airlines may have restrictions that may differ from Silversea’s. Please contact your travel professional or airline.
In consideration of evolving consumer trends, and to further promote a safe, comfortable and enjoyable environment for all Silversea guests, staff and crew, the smoking policy was updated on January 1, 2013.
Smoking is NOT allowed in:
- Guest suites and guest suite verandas
- All Public Areas, Lounges and Bars
Smoking (including Cigars, Pipes and Cigarettes) is allowed in:
- The Connoisseur's Corner.
- In addition, tables and seating have been made exclusively available outside the Panorama Lounge, the Pool Bar, and specified areas of open decks.
- Tables and seating have been made available outside La Terrazza for cigarette smoking exclusively.
Guests who rely upon wheelchairs must bring their own. Please note that not all shore excursions are suitable for guests with impaired mobility.
All guests are required to report in writing to Silversea at the time their reservation is made:
- Any physical or mental condition that may require medical or professional treatment or attention during the voyage

- Any condition that may pose a risk or danger to the guest or anyone else onboard the ship
- Any condition that may require oxygen for medical reasons
- Any intention or need to use a wheelchair aboard ship.
By booking passage and by boarding the ship, the guest represents and warrants that they are physically and otherwise fit to travel, and that the guest will comply at all times with applicable rules and regulations of the ship and orders and instructions of the ship's officers and medical staff. Silversea reserves the right, without liability, to require a guest to disembark and/or to refuse to board and transport a guest who, in the judgment of Silversea or the ship's Master, is unfit to travel or may require care beyond that which Silversea is reasonably able to provide. Those guests requiring wheel-on and/or wheel-off access must contact Silversea prior to making a booking. Silversea reserves the right to deny boarding to any guest who failed to notify Silversea of such requirement at the time of booking.
Silversea ships are equipped to offer wireless (Wi-Fi) Internet access. Guests can use their own laptop to surf the Internet and check emails at Wi-Fi locations throughout the ship, or from the comfort and privacy of their suite. Computers, email and Internet access are also available on board at the Internet Café. However, it is important to understand that telecommunication services while at sea are via satellite and significantly different than high-speed connections on land back home. The signal travels in a similar manner to radio waves but at much greater distances. Therefore, onboard Internet access is not guaranteed at all times. Satellite communications are also affected by weather and the ship's location.
Internet Service Fees
The same rates apply, whether accessing the Internet via personal laptop or via the Internet Café computers. All charges are posted directly to guests' onboard account. No credit is given for unused Time Plan minutes. Rates shown are in US dollars and are subject to change.

Each Silversea ship is equipped with a Medical Centre, which is customarily staffed by a doctor and nurse on 24-hour call when at sea. The Medical Centre is not intended or designed to provide on-going treatment of pre-existing conditions or for extended critical care, and Silversea is not responsible for the diagnosis, treatment or services furnished by shipboard medical personnel. Guests may be charged for medical services and for medications used for their medical treatment.

Pros: Food was some of the best I've ever had at sea, lectures from expedition guides were excellent quality and service from all the staff onboard was so professional but also from the heart
Cons: Evening entertainment was just about non-existent - could add some more choices here
Review:
Comfortable luxury ship, great dining and a happy staff providing good service.
Pros: Comfortable luxury ship, great dining and a happy staff providing good service.
Cons: No Cons
Review: As an avid Expedition, Nature, and Safari lover, I was not sure what to expect on Silversea Expedition, but I did very much enjoy it. On this itinerary we did not have the full Expedition experience, no zodiac landings or kayaking from the ship, but this was because the countries we were in did not allow it, but instead we had a selection of locally guided tours in each port, and the Naturalists from the ship came along on each departure. On my trip, there were a number of Silversea repeat guests, and some more Expedition travelers, and both seemed to enjoy themselves. For me, the lectures, and watching for wildlife with the Naturalists were the best feature, but sailing on a luxury all suite vessel with a balcony and a butler was certainly enjoyable as well! Silversea puts it together well and included both a pre and a post night hotel.
Everything was perfect except
Pros: Everything was perfect except
Cons: No Tv live shows. No cnn msnbc fox cbs etc
Review: Only old tv shows. National Geographic. Movies Nothing live from any country.
Small ship, small number of guests, great staff
Pros: Small ship, small number of guests, great staff
Cons: Slightly dated design, rough seas, tenders to ports were a negative
Review: An excellent trip overall with a great staff and even better food. We loved the small ship atmosphere and the very quiet spaces. The ship never felt crowded and we loved the number and variety of public rooms. The tenders into ports was a bit of a turn off as I found the tenders to be crowded, hot and stuffy and not a great overall experience. The shore excursions were also a hit or miss. I don't enjoy riding in small vans with multiple people, et al. One of our shore excursions was cancelled and we were not notified until we were onboard the ship. The quality of food was excellent - a huge variety and they willingness of the staff to meet any need was very nice. Excellent wine list if you didn't like the included wines and i thought the pricing for some of the rare/high-end thing was very fair, if not inexpensive. The different restaurants and changing menu's were also a nice surprise. I don't think I ate the same thing twice in 10 days, except the large salads I made for lunch! The ship is being updated soon we're told and it is in need of a refresh. Everything was very clean but had the slight feel of a the early 90's to me. Our room was comfortable and had tons of storage space. The butler that attended to us was beyond accommodating and very helpful. The entertainment on board was very good and varied from lectures to broadway style reviews. We enjoyed the energy of the young performers. Overall it was an excellent trip and would do it again.
Great service, food and amenities. Plenty of things to do, and plenty of places to relax. Amazing horseback trail ride and beach swim in Antigua.
Pros: Great service, food and amenities. Plenty of things to do, and plenty of places to relax. Amazing horseback trail ride and beach swim in Antigua.
Cons: Our Silver Suite was roomy, but tired. Needed updating.
Review: This was a great cruise for us since we live in FL and did not have to fly to the port city. We enjoy the days at sea, and this cruise included 4 . Lovely decorations throughout the ship for the holiday. The Boutique staff were friendly and funny, and the selection was great. Our Butler and all the service staff made us feel right at home.
Excellent staff, food, & Lectures by Nicki.
Pros: Excellent staff, food, & Lectures by Nicki.
Cons: We couldn’t visit 2 ports I was looking forward to due to weather: Isles des Madelines & Boston Harbor.
Review: Would take the same cruise again, perhaps a bit earlier in the season to prevent such severe weather, esp. ocean waves. No person to blame. A “Bomb Cyclone” in Boston is surely an unpredictable weather oddity. NYC was sunny & beautiful the following two days. History/Geography Lectures were outstanding!
Small ship, attentive staff, excellent food and entertainment
Pros: Small ship, attentive staff, excellent food and entertainment
Cons: No coffee bar, cabins need refurbishing, no ice cream bar, specialty restaurant charged additional $60 pp.

Pros: Pros fantastic service, especially by the butlers.: The size of the ship, the dining options and Cons: The television satellite went
Cons: Cons: The television satellite went out for 4 days and there was some grumbling .
Review: Perfect weather and interesting ports added up to a wonderful trip. The staff was great and the food in all of the dining options was quite good. The chef did several cooking trips and demonstrations and everyone loved them. The demonstrations were standing room only. He shopped locally and people appreciated the high quality of the fruits especially.
very attentive staff and good food
Pros: very attentive staff and good food
Cons: No Cons
Review: We took a late March 10-day trip in the Caribbean including the week before Easter (spring break for many schools). We had a great diversity of fellow passengers and the interactions between the passengers was far better than we have ever experienced before. Perhaps the good staff attitude helped set the tone. In any event, we seemed to be always chatting with new friends, whether on our small-group shore excursions, or at coctails, or at meals.
Every suite has a butler who can attend to your every need. Every one is very service oriented.
Pros: Every suite has a butler who can attend to your every need. Every one is very service oriented.
Cons: The deep soaker tub can be difficult for some guests to climb in and out of for their shower.
Review:
the service, the food, the pool deck
Pros: the service, the food, the pool deck
Cons: ship was a bit worn
Review: Our butler was attentive, courteous, and prompt. I wish I could have taken him home. The entire staff on this ship was outstanding. They seemed to know what you wanted before you did. Food was excellent in the dining room and La Terrazza. We felt the service in La Champagne was not up to the standards of the rest of the ship. The evening entertainment was limited, but that may be due to the small size of this ship. The SilverWind was a bit tired and needed some refurbishing. However, that in no way detracted from our experience on board. We are looking forward to our next SilverSeas experience in 3 months.
food and service
Pros: food and service
Cons: needs to be updated more.
Review:
The staff is wonderful!
Pros: The staff is wonderful!
Cons: The ship could use some refurbishing
Review: Love the inclusive features (drinks, shore excursions, gratuities) that are offered on a luxury ship! Staff could not do enough for you. Entertainment was fun, professional, loved it!
No lines, no queues. Embarking and disembarking was really easy and pleasant. Wifi connectivity was excellent.
Pros: No lines, no queues. Embarking and disembarking was really easy and pleasant. Wifi connectivity was excellent.
Cons: Some public areas were looking a bit tired. One Launderette with only 3 machines for the entire ship was often crowded and some guests got frustrated.

Pros: all excellent--food, staff, living quarters, shore excursions

Review: Trip of a lifetime--I loved it!
We have the best travel planner! She leaves nothing to chance, anticipating our personal needs and expectations as she plans trips for us at least annually. This trip ended in our 45th day as Silversea travelers - so we have both experience and loyalty with/to them. Bar and butler service the best! Accommodations comfortable and roomy. Dining options flexible for a small ship.

Cons: The ship takes some liberties in moving pre-booked reservations/appointments for La Terrazza and the spa. My ship evaluation clearly communicated our disappointment in this situation. Food is predictable and one must not be timid about asking for better wines than those automatically poured. Difficult to figure out how to operate laundry appliances - need at least some instruction.
Review:
Excellent service and food and wine
Pros: Excellent service and food and wine
Cons: More shore excursion choices especially for evening events off ship, like a concert
